AeA in partnership with Wacco is implementing the project 'A new dawn for tsunami victims' with a goal to ensure education and livelihood opportunities for Tsunami victims.

Objectives

Major Accomplishments

• Shelter has been provided for 31 families

• Child resource centers started in 6 villages

• Teachers are deputed to three pre schools and one primary school

• 2 schools renovated

• 3 Early Child Care Centers functional

• 1 Crèche and 1 Rehabilitation Center for abused children started

• Self Help Groups of 6 villages federated

• 3 computer training course for youth have been started

Quality Education

• Peace education for children in primary schools 

• Co-curricular activities for children through child care centres

• Integration of other learning spaces with schools 

Women's Empowerment and Education 

• Formation and strengthening of women groups in 7 villages 

• Provision of seed money to start Income generation activities

• Mobilisation of youth and girls for employability training

• Promotion of pilot activity through Self Help Groups

Shelter

• Construction of shelters in Tsunami affected areas
