 AeA's Intervention

AeA in partnership with Siyath is implementing the 'Equitable rehabilitation of tsunami victims' project with a goal to create sustainable livelihoods for people and youths affected by tsunami.

Objectives

  • Child care centers for below 5 years in 4 villages
  • Learning centers for 6-18 years in 4 villages
  • Strengthening of government schools in 2 villages
  • Livelihood education for youth
  • Capacity building of mothers clubs
  • Participatory Village Re-Construction Plan(PVRP) in 9 villages

Major Accomplishments

  • Child care centers for below 5 years started in 4 villages
  • Child learning centers started for 6-18 years in 4 villages
  • Preparatory work is undertaken for livelihood education for youth
  • Renovation of 2 school buildings
  • Seed capital for 6 women to start micro enterprise
  • Relief to 422 families during floods

  • Co-curricular activities for children through child care centres

  • Integration of other learning spaces with schools

Women's Empowerment and Education

  • Awareness creation on gender issues
  • Capacity building of mothers groups in villages

Livelihood Education

  • Mobilisation of youth and girls for employability training
  • Identification of potential farm and off farm based livelihood activity

  • Promotion of pilot activity through Self Help Groups
