Name of the Child : Y. Madhavi
Code of child : P88369
Village : Nelapalle

I belong to a landless family from Nelapalle village in Peddapanjani Mandal. My family comprises of my father, mother and a younger brother. My father works as a barber in a shaving and saloon shop in the town. My younger brother is studying pre-degree.

I was enrolled in the sponsorship programme of Aide et Action during the year 1988 when I was studying 4th class. I completed my basic schooling in Nelapalle village and completed my BSc nursing in Tirupathi. At present I am married and have a boy child. I am working as a nurse in a well known hospital by name Kamineni in the city of Hyderabad.

During my school days I excelled in my academic performance,. Always I used to score high marks in the class. The supplementary school provided the basic needs of education material in my schooling days. The supplementary school used conduct of special coaching classes for the children who were appearing for common exams. The specific coaching imparted for science, English and Maths have helped me to get good marks in the common exams. In my school days I used to dream about becoming nurse and I remember that once when a chief guest in a function asked me what I wanted become I instantly replied that I wanted to become a nurse. Now my ambition has been fulfilled.

Recently after a gap of 5 years I visited my native village and to my surprise I saw that the supplementary school was still actively managed by the VEDC . I am very proud that I am the first member of my family to get a degree. My memorable day that I cherish in my life is when I got my B.Sc nursing degree. I am now well settled in my life and my husband is working in a computer firm. Whatever I have achieved in my life is basically because of the sponsorship programme of Aide et Action where I got a solid foundation in the schooling.

Looking at my family background completing my degree itself is a great achievement. In those days my parents were not very supportive towards girl child education. My achievement had a direct impact on my brother’s education also and he is hoping to become an engineer.

Due to Aide et Action’s intervention a pucca school building was constructed for the benefit of the children of the village and it is used by government and VEDC to run the school. The water development activity undertaken by GVS has improved the agricultural production and the living standard of the community. GVS has promoted self help groups in village. The trainings and awareness camps on thrift and credit, health and hygine. My mother is a member of SHG and has availed loans many times for her children’s education and also for income generation activity.

The education programme of AEA-GVS through sponsorship has really helped not only me but has also contributed to the holistic development of the village with an integrated approach.
