AeA's Intervention

AeA in partnership with SEVAI started implementing the 'Equitable rehabilitation of tsunami victims' project co- financed by DFID with a goal to create sustainable livelihoods for the farmers, landless, dalits and the youths affected by tsunami. Project is being implemented with close monitoring and most of the activities are implemented with guidance of AeA staff at field level.

Objectives

  • Address the gaps in the interventions of government and other agencies

  • Restore childhood and education of children

  • Promote quality and life oriented education 

  • Restoration of sustainable livelihoods

  • Promotion of sustainable means of livelihood

  • Restoration of land and water sources

  • Cash for work programme for immediate livelihood support

  • Empowerment of dalits, women and other marginalized communities for equitable and inclusive rehabilitation

  • Community organisation and formation of village reconstruction committees

Major Accomplishments

  • 10 child care centres (CCCs) are functioning 

  • Construction of one CCC have been completed 

  • 522 children have been enrolled in 10 CCCs

  • School renovation in one school have been completed

  • 6 cash-for-work programme have been completed

  • Rs.2.13 lakhs have been incurred on cash for work programme

  • 63 SHGs exists with 1094 members

  • Immediate livelihood support given to 56 members

  • Material supply to adolescent girls immediately after tsunami

  • Rs.16.75 lakhs have been given to 10 village organisations consisting of 63 Self Help Groups for income generation and livelihood activities

  • Rs.6.45 lakhs have been given to 20 Common Interest Groups for income generation and livelihood activities
