Background
SECURE has been working in Paloncha and Mulakalapally mandals of Khammam District, Andhra Pradesh since 1991 with the aim of uplifting the socio and economic status of the tribal groups in the area such as Lambada, Koya, Nayak etc., Target groups are socially disadvantaged and oppressed communities, most of them are landless, small and marginal farmers.
The problem of child labour is severe in this area and about 50% of child population works as child labour.Some of the activities being done by the children are goat and sheep rearing, farm work, quarry work, construction work etc., Major reasons for the problem of child labour are the economic condition of the parents and the poor performance of the government schools.
