Background 

SCAD started it's work in Tirunelveli district in 1985. Since 1987, it has been working in partnership with Aide et Action. In addition to education, health, agriculture, women development and community organisation activities were also carried out in project villages. It's beneficiary groups include dalits, gypsies, snake-charmers, leprosy affected people, salt pan workers and toddy-tappers.

Mission

SCAD 's mission is to reach the unreached and to facilitate more equal and just society. This includes reaching those who are socially, economically, politically and culturally marginalized landless agricultural laborers, saltpan workers, gypsies, snake catchers, leprosy affected, handicapped children, mentally retarded, rural women and the deprived sections.
