Research would be initiated on women's education and empowerment. Some documentation and publications that are planned relate to
- Microfinance and education and empowerment
- Impact on livelihoods education
- Financial literacy
- Microfinance during emergencies
- Savings and credit among children and adolescents etc
Gender Equality
-
AeA would encourage partners to understand gender implications and address some of the consequences of microfinance on women. Especially issues like work load on women, role of technology, need to sensitise men would be addressed as part of promotion of gender sensitive micro finance. Design as well as delivery aspects (of services) would be reviewed to make them more gender sensitive
Livelihood
- Ensure that an acceptable percentage of women are also provided with secure livelihoods opportunities wherever livelihoods education programmes are being implemented or supported by AeA
- WE would encourage promotion of livelihoods through Self Help Groups. Livelihoods promotion would become integral part of Women's Education and Empowerment (WE) strategies and towards this end, identified community members (Self Help Group members or their family members) would be encouraged to undertake livelihood activities and appropriate training and marketing support would be facilitated. iLead programs would be dovetailed into WE activities
Emergencies
- The women's empowerment sector would ensure that in all emergency response initiatives of AeA, womens issues and concerns would be considered board and given due recognition and importance
- WE would promote activities that enhance our own understanding on handling microfinance during emergencies. Development of products, speedy delivery and also addressing group solidarity during crisis would become part of interventions and staff capacities and community capacities in this regard would be enhanced. Similarly community preparedness would become part of field facilitation for Self Help Groups
