Background
DIP - Kodai, is a direct implementation project of Aide et Action started in the year 2002
Goal
To ensure that marginalized communities such as scheduled tribe, scheduled caste and other backward communities in the project area are empowered to initiate, manage and sustain development processes to lead a dignified life.
Objectives
- To create accessibility and ensure education to all children in collaboration with government
- To identify other learning spaces and link them with formal schools
- To sensitise the communities to participate and contribute towards sustainable education development
- To promote active interface with community, school and government
- To identify children with disability and address their education, health and development needs
- To form community based organisation for youth, women, disabled and farmers

Major Accomplishments
- The organisation has obtained membership in district level village education committee and block level education committee
- Adequate linkages were developed with educational departments, panchayat boards and other NGOs
- Three schools have obtained recognition under EGS by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan
- Three pre schools were merged with ICDS (Integrated child development services)
- 157 children were mainstreamed through alternative innovative education
- 3 residential bridge centers were established in Kodaikanal and Palani in which 182 children were mainstreamed
- Village Education Development Committees were formed in 21 villages
- Employability training for youth was provided thorugh iLEAD Palani which offers training on hospitality, Automobile mechanics and IT. 107 students have passed out of which 83% were placed in jobs
- Organised camps for PWD by establishing linkages with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and NGOs operating in the area.
- Facilitating access to services and providing assistive devices to CWD and PWD in collaboration with government and other NGOs
- Women’s Self Help Groups and youth groups were formed
