Background
Development through Education (DEED) was founded in 1980, 1st September locally by Dr.Gerry Pais and S.Sreekant. Dr.Gerry Pais, lived in France for ten years. He came to India in 1974 and worked with Brothers to All Men India (BAM) a French supported group in Calcutta and Madhya Pradesh. Later on he moved to his native State Karnataka to initiate a project in the tribal area of Hunsur in Mysore District in 1978. S.Sreekant, a professionally qualified social worker joined him in 1979. Both along with other interested local persons registered DEED in 1980 at Hunsur. Dr.Gerry Pais worked as Director of DEED till 1990 and since 1991 S.Sreekant is the Project Director.
Sreekant has done his Social Development course in Navascotia, Canada in 1986. DEED has general body, governing body and a team of staff.

Quality life with dignity for adivasis.
Mission
Ensure quality and relevant education to adivasi children, livelihood education for youths, women education and empowerment and inclusive education for differently abled persons living in and around Nagarahole National Park by 2007.
