CLUB DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEES
-
Formation of 53 Club Development Committees (CDC’s) and strengthening of 25 existing CDCs in boys clubs
- Formation of 27 club development committees for girls clubs
- Organizing capacity building for CDC members on preparing club development plan in 98 clubs
- Formation of 4 federations among 98 clubs
- Organizing 2 workshops for club development committees to prepare club development plans
- Conducting meetings by involving government, community and other stake holders for planning club development activities
- Leveraging with government and other agencies
- Developing manuals and guidelines for club development committee
Quality Education
- Capacity building of scout masters
- Improving the atmosphere of boys and girls clubs through renovation and minor repairs by leveraging resources from government and other sources
- Enhancing learning opportunities in academics through regular tuition classes
- Providing support for all round development of children through focus on sports, personality development, art, music spoken English, computers and cultural activities
- Mainstreaming of drop out children into formal education
- Involvement of police, community and other stakeholders through various committees
- Sensitization on issues pertaining to children - child rights, health hygiene etc
- Developing leadership qualities among children through promotion of committees
Livelihood Education
- Organizing sensitisation programs on skilled employment
- Conducting 6 campaigns for mobilizing candidates for iLEAD
- Mobilizing 120 candidates for iLEAD Chennai centers to undergo various courses on information technology, two wheeler mechanism, hospitality and AC mechanism
- Sensitisation programs for the parents/community about the importance of livelihood education
- Identifying 50 youth and providing training in carpentry, electrical, driving and plumbing.
- Networking with organisations conducting employability training for child laborers
Creating Equal Opportunities for Girls
- Formation of 10 new girls clubs
- Strengthening of 17 girls clubs
- Conducting orientation workshops with Chennai city women police to support girls clubs activities
- Providing support for overall development of girls through focus on sports, personality development, art, music and cultural activities, computer skills and spoken english
- Providing learning opportunities in academics through regular tuition classes
- Mainstreaming 50 drop out girls in regular schools
- Establishing linkages with government departments and other stakeholders
- Organizing health education programs for adolescent girls
- Conducting 2 medical camps for the children of girls clubs
- Distributing first aid kits to 17 girls clubs and imparting training on first aid for 17 teachers
- Providing library books for 17 girls clubs and cultural equipments for 10 girls clubs
- Preparation of child specific plan for all the girls clubs
- Capacity building of teachers on documentation and planning development activities in the clubs
- Building capacities of girls club children to involve them in public service like regulating traffic and other services
Inclusive Education
- Capacity building of parents, scout masters and tutors on care of young disabled children and existing government schemes and programs
- Sensitisation and orientation to community, police officials, scout masters and tutors on disability issues and rights
- Providing access to special schools for children with severe disabilities and inclusive education for children with mild and moderated disabilities
- Provision of recreational activities for disabled children in boys and girls clubs
- Livelihood education for eligible youth with mild disabilities
- Setting up of help desk for disabled children in Chennai slums
Mobilising the Participation of Community and other Stakeholders
- Orientation sessions at community level to educate the community on the need for children's clubs and their participation
- Conducting sensitization programs on various issues
- Formation of club development committees with the participation of community and other stakeholders
- Involving community and other stake holders in all club development activities
Resource Mobilisation
- Identification of potential donors
- Preparation of a directory on existing donors
- Establishing linkages with stakeholders
- Organizing meetings with government functionaries to tap resources
- Publication of brochures
- Capacity building of staff, scout masters, teachers on resource mobilization
- Conducting special events organized by boys and girls clubs for resource mobilization
